As you approached the field, children ran to their friends hugging one another while parents reunited for another season. Before game time, each team held a small practice to take each child through drills. One coach lined up their players to practice scoring. One by one, a child slowly dribbles up to the goal. Making sure not to get distracted from their surroundings. The leg goes back, and the shot is attempted and BAM. A goal is scored! From their viewpoint, this was all happening so fast. You can see the exhilaration as they are jumping up and down. For them, this is a big step in their development as an athlete. Once game time got closer, a game of tag broke loose. Was this part of the pre-game plan? We would say playing tag helps the players work on their agility and maneuver when being chased down. Add a ball into the mix and you get the game of soccer.

One by one, parking spots began to fill up as the community was brought together for another memory maker. As the cars were placed into park and engines turned off, kids in the backseat kicked their feet in excitement. Were they kicking the seats in front of them? Maybe, but remember, today was the first game of the season. An opportunity build new relationships and develop skills. Don’t you remember the first time you were excited for something as a kid? The feeling of being all sugared up and ready to run free. When finally given the opportunity, you took off, not looking back. We remember. We see it everyday and it never gets old.
